Every crew has a rig that turns heads on the trail. For us, that's HALLN — a 2021 Jeep JLU Rubicon built locally right here around Vail, and it's about as serious as it gets.
Suspension & Steering
HALLN rides on a 4.5-inch Rock Krawler lift, built around a front long arm 3-link with Rock Krawler's PB&J control arms for a smoother ride and more articulation than a stock geometry can offer. Damping duty up front is handled by locally sourced 2.5 3-tube external bypass shocks from Arizona Desert Shocks (ADS), paired with Fox hydraulic bump stops to soak up the big hits. Out back, Artec Industries aluminum rear control arms keep things planted and light.
Steering runs through Apex Chassis 2.5-ton high steer links, Reid Racing knuckles, and an American Iron ball joint delete, a serious setup built for durability under real trail abuse.
Axles & Drivetrain
Up front, a Currie 44 axle housing runs 5.38 gears for serious low-end torque with the big tires. The rear keeps the stock axle, reinforced with a truss, 35-spline axle shafts, and an Eaton e-locker for on-demand traction, finished off with a Motobilt rear differential cover.
Armor & Protection
Motobilt covers the armor package top to bottom: front and rear bumpers, rock sliders, a fender chop kit, fender liners, and a license plate kit. Recovery is handled by a Badlands Apex winch mounted up front, ready for whatever the trail throws down.
Wheels, Tires & Lighting
HALLN sits on Method Race Wheels beadlocks wrapped in 40x13.5R17 Nitto Trail Grappler tires, plenty of meat to handle whatever's underneath. For visibility on late trail runs, it's running Baja Designs LP6 lights up front and Baja Designs rock lights underneath for the technical stuff after dark.
This is a build that's been dialed in piece by piece, with a lot of local parts and a lot of trail miles behind it. If you see HALLN out on Redington Pass or Box Canyon, give a wave.
